Hilton Mumbai International Hotel (Mumbai, India)
I was up early this morning and was packed and ready to check out of the hotel and be driven to the airport by 9:30 for my 11:55 a.m. flight. The Mumbai airport is very large and my gate was at the end of a very long concourse. It was good exercise.
After boarding we found out that it was going to be a 30 minutes delayed. I wasn’t surprised with the 30 minutes turned into an hour delay. We made good time to New Dehli and were only 30 minutes late when we arrived.
Another long walk to the baggage area and then met my driver who drove me to the hotel. After staying in a beautiful hotel like the one in Mumbai this one is nice but doesn’t have the grandness. Seems to be very nice otherwise.
The person at the front desk, after checking me in, took me to my room. I had mentioned, and he acknowleged, that I prefer a room away from the elevators. When we got to the room he selected (one the 3rd floor), it was as close to the elevator as a room could be. I stayed in the room while he went back downstairs to find me another. He found a room on the 10th floor that was far away from the elevators and think I’ll like this one.
After getting settled, and enjoying a bowl of minestrone soup ordered from Room Service, I took a good nap. Then went to the lounge for an early evening snack. I was too late. Almost all the food was gone. I was spoiled at the last hotel when the food was replenished. Tomorrow I’ll arrive when it opens.
A group of men, staying across the hall in two rooms, woke me at midnight. From there my sleep was uneven.
Tomorrow I’ve booked a driver who will show me around Delhi and New Delhi for three hours. Will be a good way to get acquainted with the city.
