Nicolaus Hotel (Bari, Italy)
A very lazy day for me. I knew I needed to take time to get organized for the next few weeks and months. It has been hanging on my thoughts and I need to move forward with making new plans. But first I had breakfast and then a nap.
After my long post-breakfast nap, I focused on where I’m staying the next few days. I usually have my lodging figured out by now. It was between either Brindisi or Lecce, both south of Bari. The deciding factor was the hotel and Lecce won because it had a Hilton Garden Inn. I’ll stay there three nights and visit a few nearby places, then return to Bari and stay the night before I catch a flight to Malta on the 23rd to meet up with Barb. Made a train reservation for tomorrow’s trip to Lecce. Felt better once this was out of the way.
I forgot to document that I chipped a tooth last week while eating a Snickers bar. I felt something foreign in my mouth as I took a bite and thought it was a peanut shell. Turns out it was a small piece of one of my molars. I’ve been waiting to see if this missing piece would cause any pain or discomfort. So far, nothing. I’ll visit my Edinburgh dentist in June and have him take a look at it.
I took a short walk this evening since I’ve been in my room most of the day. Wondering if there will be any St. Patrick’s Day events this evening. Probably not I’m figuring. Seems more like a U.K. and U.S. sort of thing. Last night I heard music and through a glass roof below could see that there was event in a lower level area of the hotel. I called down to find out how long the music is expected to be playing. They were surprised I could hear the music. (I may have faulty teeth, but my hearing is 110%.) I was told it was a birthday party and the music will stop after midnight. It wasn’t loud, but it was more annoying than anything else.
Tonight will involve watching more Star Trek Discovery before I go to bed. Not much packing to do. I’ve been living out of my suitcase for the past few days. I only fully unpack when I’m planning to stay for 5 or more days. Based on my upcoming travel plans, I’ll be living out of my suitcase for the next couple of weeks until my two-week stay in Malta in April.
