I took it easy today. While I’m not feeling 100%, it isn’t as bad as a couple of weeks ago. Mainly just blowing my nose. A good excuse to do more travel planning, which I need to do. I should really think about extending some of these plans into 2020 and not try to do so much in one year.
A funny story about communicating with an Airbnb host who has limited English speaking skills. I try to keep this in mind when I ask questions and then try to read between the lines on how she responds. Add to that, the cultural nuances that might play into the communication process. For example, I sent the host a question about where to take my garbage. The response back was: “Outside the building on the right side , special place”. I responded back with a simple, “Thank you.” I was unsuccessful finding the “special place” that she mentioned, so I’ll have to figure out a Plan B because I’m not leaving my garbage for someone else to take out.
I was looking at my suitcase this afternoon. Boy, it is beat up. I’m thinking about investing in a slightly smaller and sturdier suitcase. I think my current suitcase will survive these next couple of weeks. Maybe I’ll get a new suitcase before Corrine arrives on the 26th.
I watched the remainder of The Avengers and fast forwarded through a lot of the violence. I liked the story and the characters, but the battle scenes were too much. When I got to the end of the movie I discovered that this movie has a sequel.
Tomorrow morning I’m planning to leave the flat sometime between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 am. Keeping finger’s crossed that there will be a taxi or Uber driver available to take me to the airport for my 7:00 a.m. flight. I’m sure it will work out okay. I’m also trying not to think about traveling on 9/11. Having faith that all will go well as it generally does.
Hopefully I can get a few hours of sleep before my alarm goes off. Many times I’ve traveled with little sleep so I should be okay.
