Bergen, Norway (Strandgaten 201)
It has been quite a while since I have slept so much in one day. Guess I was really exhausted from the tour yesterday.
During my waking hours I completed my travel plans for most of September. I had thought I’d try to visit Minsk, Belarus while I was in the “neighborhood” of Vilnias, Lithuania. When I explored the process for getting a visa for that visit, the planning process became difficult and I took that as a sign that I shouldn’t plan to visit Belarus at this time. Once I made that decision then everything else fell into place. I had wanted to visit Hamburg for a few days, then if cousins Molly and Ori were available, I’d meet up with them in the Frankfurt area after Hamburg. As it worked out, I quickly heard back from Ori that they were looking forward to my visit. I had already checked with Hussein that he was free, and then it all became easy to make the necessary travel arrangements. I’ll make the train reservations from Hamburg to Frankfurt after I arrive in Hamburg.
Still pending is when to meet up with Corrine in September and then to start planning our tour of England and Wales during the last week of September and the first week of October. We exchanged a few text messages today and hope to start planning our tour next week. But for today, I was happy with the progress I made. Related to this, I received an email from Cousin Ginny who asked if I was going to slow down at some point. Yes I will, but it won’t be until I start my two-month stay in Edinburgh starting October 25th.
I also started getting ready today to leave for my visit to Helsinki tomorrow. I’m going to miss having a big screen TV to watch “The Flash”, but I’ll be okay with my laptop for the next week while in Helsinki. I was going to walk around Bergen today, but don’t have any interest to see anything else. I accomplished everything I wanted to see and do while I was here. Though, I wanted to arrange a helicopter tour of the fjords and mountains, but the weather was not ideal for it.
Tomorrow I’ll need to be up early so I can be at the airport in time for my 10:30 flight. First I will take a taxi to the nearest light rail stop in Bergen, then take the train from there to the airport where I’ll catch a flight to Oslo. At Oslo I have a two-hour layover before my flight to Helsinki. At Helsinki I’ll take the train from the airport into city then a taxi to the hotel. All I have to do is schedule a taxi to pick me up at 7:30 a.m.
