Bratislava, Slovakia (DoubleTree by Hilton, Bratislava)
What a great night’s sleep! I woke up and had breakfast downstairs then returned to my room and went back to sleep. I eventually got up, showered and dressed.
The hat I’ve been wearing while I’ve been using the Efudex (to keep my head out of the sun) is now stained with a combination of the Efudex lotion and perspiration. I need a new hat. Also would like to pick up a couple of birthday cards that I’ll mail to the U.S. And have lunch. I found a shopping mall down the road so I will walk there and take care of everything in one location.
I found a shop in the mall that had a good selection of hats and found one that I liked. Nearby was a card shop and decided to get a couple of birthday cards written in Slovak. (I have no idea what they say in Slovak.)
In the mall’s food court I found a place that served chicken tenders and fries. I would have ordered something from the Asian place but their menu was written in Slovak and the pictures that they used, I couldn’t tell what anything was. The chicken tenders were edible, but that is about all. I did enjoy watching the people in the mall while I ate.
After a short nap when I returned to the hotel I worked a little on my finances. By the time I finished it was nearly 7:30 and I walked to a nearby McDonald’s and picked up a couple of cheeseburgers. It was a very quiet Sunday evening and very little traffic. On the way to McDonald’s, I hadn’t noticed the construction of a large stadium being built nearby, probably for football (soccer). I looked it up via Wikipedia and saw that it was going to be a national football stadium that will hold 22,000 spectators.
By the time I ate my food, wrote a travel blog, and answered emails and texts it was nearly 9:00 p.m. I decided to watch a movie and for some reason I wanted to watch The Butler. What an incredibly sad but inspiring movie. For some reason human rights were on my mind.
Tomorrow I’ll make my way down to the Old Town area of the city. The weather is expected to be warm and sunny. I’m sure I’ll have an enjoyable walk.
