Prague, Czech Republic (Kubova 535, Prague 8)
Had a great night’s sleep. In fact, with the steady and relaxing rain hitting the window, I really didn’t want to get up. And I didn’t get out of bed until 10:30. One of the perks of retirement.
My primary objective today is to find a place to stay in London. If it was just me it would be fairly easy, but to also find a place that my cousin would like added an extra challenge. I found 15 places that were good candidates, then made a few passes through the list until I got down to the top five. I’m looking for a place that has two bedrooms with two bathrooms, close to the underground, centrally located, and has good reviews. I sent out questions to a few of the hosts and while they were responding I went to the store to pick up some food supplies.
Tonight I’m making a roasted chicken. I guess one of these days I will get tired of making a roasted chicken, but until then, I’ll keep making it. I even have my own ball of string packed in my suitcase to tie up the legs. I also bought potatoes and found asparagus at the store. Food prices are very reasonable in Prague. The medium sized chicken cost around $5.30, the large bundle of asparagus was $2.70, and a bunch of bananas was $.59.
When I returned from the store I had my answers from the Airbnb hosts and decided on the winner. There were two finalists. Both had great reviews, were located near more than one underground station, and fully furnished. I selected the one that was on one level. I notified the Airbnb host and received back a reply that he accepted my request. We will stay there from the 23rd of May to the 30th. I’ll leave on the 30th for Bucharest, Romania.
Just about when I was going to start making dinner, I started receiving emails and text messages from friends. It was morning in the U.S. and I generally get a few messages at this time of the day, but also was getting messages from friends here in Europe too. I finally got the chicken in the over and ate dinner at 7:30. At around 8:30 I was tired and was planning on taking a quick after dinner nap. I didn’t wake until 10:00.
I stayed up for about 45 minutes then went back to bed. Perhaps the rain is making me sleepy. I woke at 1:30 a.m. and noticed I just got a text from a friend in the U.S. that wanted to talk. Why not? I was awake, so we talked for almost an hour before I was ready to finish my sleep.
Tomorrow I’ll go into Prague’s Old Town and look around some more. I’ll also make chicken noodle soup too. I’m not tired of making or eating chicken noodle soup either. Perhaps some day in the future when I re-read my travel blog, perhaps I’ll ask myself, “Why did I eat so much of the same thing?”
