Madrid, Spain (Doubletree Hotel by Hilton, Prado)
After a terrific night’s sleep and morning breakfast, I was ready to walk around Madrid. When I looked outside, it was raining, but I’m from Oregon and a little rain won’t be an issue.
Thought for my first day I’d keep it simple. I saw Plaza Mayor on a map and decided that I’d walk over there. I read there were many shops and restaurants around the plaza and thought they would be interesting to see.
The following pictures were taken around the large square of Plaza Mayor. Fortunately, the walk around the square was covered.
After walking around the square I looked for a nearby business that offers Segway tours and found one that was highly recommended. I opted for a 2 hour tour on Monday since the weather for tomorrow (Sunday) looks questionable.
Some pictures of rainy Madrid, on my way back to the hotel:

When I returned to the hotel, I took a nap. No surprise there! In the evening, one more visit to McDonald’s. I was giving a very special number for my order. (Note the two cheeseburgers.)
When I returned to my room I booked a room in Granada, which follows my visit to Barcelona. Though, I now need to find the best way to book the train from Madrid to Barcelona for Thursday – many options!
Tomorrow I’ll walk around Parque de El Retiro. That will keep me busy. A very large park!
