Larnaca, Cyprus (Nicolaides Sea View City)
Today is my last day in Larnaca. I walked around in the afternoon and took pictures of some of the streets. No two are alike. I’m sure these streets follow the same routes that were established hundreds of years ago – definitely no grid pattern to follow. The locals probably know how to navigate through the streets out of years of experience.
Two different mornings I took pictures of the sunrise. Just happened to wake up and went to the kitchen this is what I saw:
Sunrise, Day 1
Sunrise, Day 2
While walking around, I really had to watch where I stepped since sidewalks start and stop randomly and are of various widths and quite uneven as well. Guess it makes getting around a little more interesting. Since this is my second time in Larnaca, I’m learning my way around – though I doubt if I’ll ever want to drive – walking is okay with me.

On the way back to the flat, I stopped by the taxi service who has an office across from my building. I asked if he would have a driver who could take me to the airport tomorrow at 3:45 a.m. He said that his drivers don’t start that early and gave me a phone number to call – no business name, just a phone number. Since I wasn’t comfortable with his recommendation, I thanked him and went up to my flat to do a little research on my own. I found a 24/7 taxi service online and filled out their service request form. I also contacted my Airbnb host to get his recommendations. As it turned out, his recommendation happened to be the same business I found, so I knew I was in good shape for tomorrow. Again, I had faith that a driver will be waiting to take me to the airport tomorrow at 3:45 a.m. If not, I could miss my flight.
I took a long nap and woke up and it was dark outside. Decided to fix a fried egg sandwich for dinner, just to keep it simple. Then watched some shows on Netflix. Looking forward to getting a few hours of sleep. I’m planning to get up at 2:00 a.m. to clean the flat and pack my bags and be ready for the driver at 3:45 a.m. (What what I thinking when I made the flight reservation!)
Tomorrow begins two months of travel to Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Should be an amazing experience!
