As much as I tried, just couldn’t sleep in this morning. The sun was coming in the windows (no black out curtains here) and with the neighborhood in full-swing, I got out of bed to start the day.
Planned to make another visit to the Old City this morning to climb up on the old fort (pictures below) and possibly confirm a driver to take me around the Dubrovnik area and also schedule a boat tour to visit the islands next week.
On the way to the Old City, I looked over the side of the road and noticed, I guess for the first time, how clear the water was. Blue and clear.
Just before entering the Old City, I walked up to a park like area that overlooked the sea. A nice (flat) walk to another viewpoint.
From there I walked up to the Fort Lovrijenac or St. Lawrence Fortress, often called “Dubrovnik’s Gibraltar”, is a fortress and theater outside the western wall of the city of Dubrovnik in Croatia, 37 meters above sea level. (From Wikipedia) So many stairs!
From this point I could take a number of pictures of the walled Old City and the surrounding area. And also pictures of the fort.
Steps up to the fort. Many, many steps…
After the walk, I went back to the same restaurant where I had lunch yesterday and had a second helping of a tuna salad. (See below.) During lunch I confirmed that my driver and guide will be here at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
After lunch I walked over to an area where you can reserve a boat. After talking over options, I have reserved a boat tour for next Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on the weather.
So, with that all wrapped up I headed home. Was exhausted when I crossed the threshold. (Many stairs today.) Took a nice long nap before digging into the leftover pizza from last night.
Made my walking goal today. Goal is to walk 15,000 steps every day and my tracker said I walked 15, 021. I’ll take it!
