Had a great night’s sleep! Almost didn’t want to get out of bed. Woke to chirping birds and movement in the neighborhood, but nothing that was too distracting.
Enjoyed my morning coffee while I thought about my plans for the day. Figured out that I’d like to go to Old Town – the main attraction for the city – a 30 minute walk away from the flat. So, after getting ready and dressed I was on my way.
On the way, had another chance to admire the harbor and marina. What a great view!
Then walked to Old Town which was an easy walk up the hill and down the other side. Several opportunities to take pictures along the way.
I remembered that I promised my new neighbor here in Dubrovnik that I was going to buy a hat today. (She was concerned that I was getting too much sun.) Once I got into Old Town, which is a big, ancient fort that now has many shops and therefore, many hat buying opportunities.
While there, asked to have my picture taken at what looked to be a favorite place for photos. Guessing there was a “Game of Thrones” connection here. I actually had two different sets of people take my picture. I had in my mind, still in Cyprus, where I wanted my picture taken and how I was to stand. Yes, really! So I went back and had more pictures taken until it matched my vision. The first one is the one I envisioned. The other two I added in for extra credit.
Then proceeded into the Old Town. Wow! So many shops! Decided to come back in the morning when there are fewer people. Also, would be a bit cooler and climbing up to walk the walls will be easier.
Found my hat in a shop that proudly said they had air conditioning. Good to hear! I went in and saw the best variety of hats to choose from. Then found one that I liked and know it would pack easily for future trips. My other had got donated before I left Edinburgh.
Think I got a good idea what Old Town was about (which was my goal for today), so decided to walk back to the flat. On the way back I picked up an ice cream treat and enjoyed my walk. While walking, noticed some heavy clouds and really didn’t think too much of them since the forecast said it would be sunny all day. Then felt a drop of rain. Before long, it was raining. I waited 10 minute beneath an overpass until the rain was only a a drizzle. (I’m an Oregonian and know how rain works.)
By the time I got back, the rain had stopped and the blue sky was back.
When in Old Town I saw an ad for a concert this evening, at 9:00 p.m. After dinner I went back to Old Town, bought a ticket and enjoyed the program.

On the way home I got an ice cream cone as a treat. (Yes, two treats today. I can count.) Saw that I walked over 22,000 steps today! Will see how I feel in the morning.
Haven’t really been that hungry while I’ve been here. Bought a medium pizza last night and ate half then and half for dinner tonight. Think I’ll make a batch of chicken noodle soup tomorrow.
