I woke up this morning (almost afternoon) and was greeted by the Nile. I realized that I had 15 minutes to catch the buffet breakfast before it closed. So nice to stay in a quiet place and have excellent bedding! This morning was welcomed back by the hotel staff who I’ve come to know over the past few months. They say, “Welcome Home” and yes, it does feel like that now.
After breakfast I took a quick nap – guess I needed more sleep before Hussein picked me up at 1:00. We stopped for coffee and then went for a drive through the streets of Luxor. He dropped me off at the hotel and we made plans to meet up later in the evening.
On the way to my room, I stopped by the hotel’s outdoor bar and met up with my bartender friend, Ahmed. We always have interesting conversations about travel, politics, and various cultures. He fixed me a couple of G&T’s and then was ready for another nap in my excellent bed. Before heading to my room, he asked that I would visit him tomorrow after breakfast for a special drink.
At 9:30 Hussein picked me up and we visited his cousin’s nightclub, which has karaoke in one section and a lounge in the other. We stayed in the lounge and had a beer and visited with his friends and cousins. I was able to stay awake until a little before midnight and said I had to get go back to my hotel to sleep.
Very relaxing (for me) in Luxor. Looking forward to visiting Sharm El Sheikh on Wednesday and will finalize these plans tomorrow.
