Daily Journal: Sunday, 2 April 2017

Today I woke, drank coffee and went on a hike around the neighborhood. My Airbnb host told me about a cafe, so I tried to find it, but no luck. I’ll have to write down the name and address when I talk with her again.

Have been texting Csabi throughout the morning as he makes his way to his new job in the UK. Fun to see someone follow their dream. He sent me some pictures of his new location in the Lake District of England – and they look like postcards from an English countryside. Imagine that!

During my walk I stepped into a bistro to get a bite to eat. Had a salad and water. It was a nice place and the menu had a good selection. Would have liked some attentive service but need to remember that I’m in another country and shouldn’t expect the same level of service that I would expect in the U.S. Perhaps a Hungarian traveling in the U.S. would be put off by a server asking a few times during the meal if everything was okay and if they would like to order something else from the menu. As it turned out, to get someone to bring me the check so I could pay, I stood up and motioned to the manager that I was ready to leave.

From there I found a supermarket that I’ll use for most of my groceries. It has a good selection of everything I may need for the next month. Even Worcestershire Sauce!

When I got home I put away the groceries and then started on the wash. There is a small washer in the flat, so needed to do the wash in a couple of loads. There is a drying rack that I set up near the window which was opened to bring in some fresh air.

Updated by blog while the wash was going. Then worked on dinner. Was no surprise that I made some Chicken Paprika. It turned out well. The kitchen only has two elements, so used the space wisely.

By the time I finished with the blog updates, eating and cleaning the kitchen it was 9:30 p.m. Enjoyed watching a few more episodes of TNG. Almost done with season 6. Only one more season to go.

Tomorrow I travel out to the airport and talk with Boarder Control about my visa. Want to make sure that I leave Hungary and the EU with a good record so they will let me back in. I’ll use public transportation to get to and from the airport.
