Daily Journal: 18 November 2016 (Friday)

Now into the sub-freezing temperatures overnight in Edinburgh. Will finally get some use out of the thermal underwear that I’ve been carrying with me. Ha!

Recovering from a migraine that came on last night. So spent a lot of time sleeping today and thinking about more places to visit. It dawned on me that I should probably make a trip up to Inverness before leaving Scotland, so made plans to do an overnight up there on Sunday (and taking advantage of my senior discount card which saves me about £13 each way). Also subscribed to AuroraWatch UK which will alert me via text and email if there is any signs of Northern Lights for the evening.

I accepted an invitation tomorrow night to a Ceilidh (Traditional Scottish or Irish social gathering. In its most basic form, it simply means a social visit. But in contemporary usage, it usually involves playing Gaelic folk music and dancing, either at a house party or a larger concert at a social hall or other community gathering place). No, not wearing a kilt. (Too cold?)

Having a simple dinner of pork chops, rice and apples for dinner. For dessert, fudge and brownie ice cream. Need to go to the store tomorrow – will take my £10 off coupon with me, but will need to be sure that I can eat what I buy before leaving for Iceland.
